Why We Love It...

Luna was founded with a passion to showcase Italian varieties in the Napa Valley. For decades, they succeeded on that front, and even began to dream bigger still. What if they expanded their scope and crafted authentic Italian wines, in Italy, to be sold directly here in the states? A bold vision...but we have been in love with the early results! This wine is a true Italian prosecco, made from the glera grape, crafted by one of Italy's most revered winemakers, and I absolutely adore it! And, in true Italian Prosecco fashion, this wine is only $13, which almost feels criminal for how delicious it is!
We’ve offered this to you before, and it flies from the warehouse in huge numbers each time – which I can understand for an immaculately crafted, $13 bottle of 93-point Prosecco! A true Last Bubbles favorite that has converted legions of bubbly lovers to this stocking stuffer worthy delight. Luna happened to close its customer-facing winery doors in Napa back in 2020, but the wine has kept flowing, thank goodness! With new, spectacular releases that run the gamut of Italian pinot grigio, Tuscan sangiovese, and this delightful Prosecco from Veneto – Luna keeps hitting impressive marks, and we’re here for every step of the delightful ride!

Here’s a fun fact that’s going to tie in back to this awesome Prosecco. Ever heard of Sassicaia? Of course you have! It was the first Italian wine to receive 100 points from Robert Parker. Well, enter Graziana Grassini. She’s the highly respected oenologist at Sassicaia, and she’s done stints at many other top brands…and…wait for it…she also makes this bubbly! If it seems too good to be true, we get it, truly. So we triple-checked and then checked again, and the facts checked out! She utilizes organic and sustainably farmed glera grapes here, without any pesticide use, and they even use frogs for pest control in the vineyard (that’s a new one for us too)!

The end result? Beautiful bubbles and a thick, stable mousse that bursts and rolls in the glass – delivering aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, peonies, and alyssum, like some ambrosial perfume of some ancient deity. And then, an explosion of fruits – green apple, apricot, tangerine, golden plums, crisp pears…oh, my! A finishing touch of heavy cream and honeyed almonds – plus the gentlest kiss of sweetness that is never cloying or forthcoming, just perfect. Graziana opted for a drier-than-average style of Prosecco – one with a Brut dosage level of 6.5 g/L as opposed to what’s more typical of your sweet and overtly perfumed Prosecco standard, which hovers far higher between 10 and 14 g/L.

This is as dry as a Prosecco as you'll readily find, with all the rich, fruity, and fresh floral character, and none of the sticky, gooey sweetness that leaves you hating life the morning after. For the insurmountable price of only $13? House bubbles worthy, for sure! This is a Luna deal for the ages that we’re certainly stocking up on yet again – and simply the perfect opportunity to build out your stores for the remainder of the year!

About the Producer

When Luna's founders first laid eyes on the Luna property in 1995, they instantly recognized the magic and the amazing potential of its estate vineyard, perfectly located along the Silverado Trail. They bought the property and followed their dream, building a winery that paid tribute to the varietals that set Napa Valley apart.
Luna's original founders brought tradition engrained by Italian ancestors, to embrace local processes that would sustain a deep and abiding respect for the Napa region. They were the first family-owned winery to plant the visionary Italian varietal of Pinot Grigio on the estate vineyard, on the eastern hillside of the Silverado Trail.
Since then, Luna has expanded, making wines from our own vines in the Napa Valley and sourcing from some of the greatest winemakers in Tuscany.
