Why We Love It...
Château de Minière is a picturesque fairytale of a castle, made of the region’s famous white limestone, in the heart of the Bourgueil AOC. Cabernet franc is the unquestioned king of reds here, grown for thousands of years in the region – and long before it made waves in Bordeaux. The region is far cooler than Bordeaux, and the expression of cabernet franc is far more delicate – brighter acidity, tingly and crunchy red fruits, and a floral and herbal elegance that can deliver stunning complexity! When you take those fine characteristics and turn them into a stunning example of Blanc de Noirs Crémant…the result can be extraordinary.
This is just such a wine! 40-50-year-old vines, grown in sandy-loam topsoils over a bedrock of limestone – the 29 hectares of Château de Minière vineyards produce top-notch still reds, quaffable rosés, and a small amount of this Brut Nature sparkling wine. Made in the traditional Champagne method, this spends an impressive 28 months on the lees to develop the character, texture, and creaminess not often seen in Loire Valley sparklings.
The aromas are delicate, and floral, with notes of baby powder, wisteria, and jasmine, followed by almost tropical aromas of lychee and papaya. Red apples, cherries, mango, and cherimoya develop on the palate, with a dry and lightly herbaceous finish of fresh grass and flowering thyme. It’s balanced, unique, and completely and utterly pleasing…a very fun expression of bubbles from the Loire that deserves a spot in any bubbly household! We got as much as we could – but this has quickly become a staff favorite here at the Last Bubbles home offices – so join us and grab a handful for your own collection today!
