Why We Love It...

Some bubbles are just meant to be enjoyed with friends – and this Bel Instant Brut is one such Champagne. Supple and fresh, bright, fleshy and savory – it’s jam-packed full of fun dichotomies that make for a properly adventurous and exotic sipping experience that I seriously couldn’t get enough of. You’ll be well pleased to add a few of these to your own cellar, especially with the sweet, sweet savings of 50% off the retail price on this 94-point beauty!

Set in the heart of the Marne Valley, in the sunny hillsides of the Essôme-sur-Marne commune, Champagne O. Belin tactfully grows chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier to craft its exquisite and unique Champagnes. Winemaker, oenologist, and proprietor Olivier Belin calls this area his “natural playground,” pulling fruit from distinct plots based on the characteristics of the terroir there. Offering a captivating and exciting portfolio of Champagnes, O. Belin is committed to traditional winemaking practices with a keen focus on respecting and preserving the land while developing a clear and precise style of wine.

The intention for this Bel Instant wine is, above all, to be something joyful, even playful to drink. Made of 100% pinot meunier grapes pulled from four separate parcels – Petites Greves, Plante Aux Choux, Mignonnes, and Beaux Chets – with vines ranging from 10 to 60 years of age harvested in 2019 and 2020, this brut is a stunning show of creativity and knowledge of the lands, used in partnership to craft something truly magnificent. It was vinified in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, without malolactic fermentation, for just shy of two years before disgorgement to create a full, vibrant, and indulgent Champagne fit for Bubbles Monsters of all degrees, ages, and stages.

With a pale rose hue that makes this almost a rosé, this brut boasts fine bubbles and a stable mousse, showcasing rich flavors, and an overall feeling of freshness and pizzazz. The creamy, almost-melted texture of effervescence is so lush and so enjoyable that I sincerely couldn’t stop myself from going back for more. Dancing on the nose are splendid, complex aromas of peach rings, Rainier cherries, honeysuckle, roasted pineapple, macerated strawberries, and apple tart, with layers of nutmeg, roasted chestnut, and a mineral tinge of iodine coming in next. All those fleshy, fruity, and zippy fruit flavors continue in the mouth, with hints of salty ocean air and a final flourish of charred grapefruit peel that leaves this too delectable to sip on your own. Meant to be enjoyed with the finest of friends, this is a Champagne NOT to pass up, especially for the mind-boggling price of well under $40 a bottle!
