Why We Love It...

Cristal needs no introduction from us – the name alone demonstrates elegance, history, and unending power.

It's little wonder that one of Champagne's oldest houses commands a reputation that any brand on earth – wine or otherwise – would envy. People who have never tasted a drop of Champagne know the name Cristal, and those who drink Champagne religiously aspire to Cristal whenever the moment allows. This is a roughly 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay composition, and cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon captures it exactly, describing the 2009 as the ultimate in finesse. Crisp, precise, and vibrantly alive, it's a powerhouse of vintage Champagne with the structure to drink beautifully for another decade, probably even longer.

In 1974, a hundred years after Cristal was first created, Jean-Claude Rouzaud set out to craft a rosé worthy of the name. The formula he arrived at still defines the wine today… old-vine Pinot Noir from the great Grand Cru slopes of Aÿ, drawing an exquisite minerality from the region's chalky, calcareous soil, joined by carefully chosen Chardonnay for lift and cut. The final wine showcases full, ripe fruit held in perfect tension by a crystalline, mouthwatering acidity – built using the saignée (bleeding) method after a cold maceration, then aged patiently in the Louis Roederer cellars before this icon is finally released to the connoisseurs and collectors who wait years for it.

Salmon-pink with glimmers of copper, it opens with expressive aromas of crushed raspberry, black currant, and gentle smoky spice that beckon from the very first pour. The palate is bright, chalky, and fresh – wild strawberry, raspberry, and black cherry giving way to mandarin sorbet, gala apple, toasted almond, and a bit of chocolate mousse. Roughly 19% of the base wine is vinified in oak, lending that seductive note of warm croissant dough, yet the wine stays taut and saline-fresh, keeping everything zippy, poised, and impossibly elegant. This is unadulterated luxury – a pure, riveting cuvée made for your next milestone, celebration, or long night among friends.
