About the Producer

Iris Vineyards was founded in the mid-1990s by Oregon natives Pamela Frye and Richard Boyles in the cooler Lorane Valley foothills of the Coast Range, which is southwest of the town of Eugene in the southern Willamette Valley. The team aims to reflect the purity and elegance of their Chalice Vineyard, which rises to 1,000 feet on mostly deep, well-drained volcanic and sedimentary soils with a reddish hue. The focus from the start was estate-grown Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay, and Iris has since added sparkling and rosé. Winemaker Aaron Lieberman came on board in 2008, and puts his Oregon State University background in soil science to good use as he explores the nuance and potential of the 43-acre site.
