Why We Love It...

Just like all those comic book movies – we too, have an origin story. It begins with Marta Magnabosco, at the glorious Montetodo estate just over a year ago. She wrapped up our tasting with a pour of glorious frizzante and announced “We have sadly reached the last bubbles.” Mere minutes later, we had secured the domain, and registered the name Last Bubbles with our very sleepy and disoriented attorney back in the States. A few months after that… we were off, and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, we’re taking a trip via wine glass back to where it all began, with this brand new release of frizzante garganega!

The Magnabosco family is prized for making some of the best Soave Classico in the world, but they’ve been making a fair bit of Italian “spumante” wines that simply defy any cost for quality computations or algorithms. The rolling hills of Veneto are their domain, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a nicer, funnier, or more gracious family in all of Italy. (And that’s saying something)! We’re just so thrilled to have this wine, the one that started it all. We love Champagne, and sparkling wines from all around the world, but this… this delightfully bubbly, soft and fruity, Italian frizzante, will always have a special place in our hearts. Best of all, it’s just really, truly, amazingly fantastic! Made from 80 year old vines of the local garganega grape, in the Magnabosco’s holdings on the hillsides of Monte Gazzo, this is the perfect aperitif, any occasion sipper, and simply the right call… always.

The wine explodes with a bouquet of white flowers – jasmine, peonies, wisteria – immediately followed by sensations of green apples, Bartlett pear, and a kiss of honeyed sweetness. Notes of green almonds follow, with mineral-rich acidity that rushes in to harmonize the wine and prepare you for your next sip, bottle, or case (no judgment from us)! The fizz is just rambunctious enough to distribute the flavors across the entire palate, and the finish is bright and never cloying. It is just so much fun to drink – and simply an exceptional value for the under $15 category!

The initial wine spends a full 5 months in tank on the lees, before transferring to special pressurized tanks that give this frizzante its bubbly nature. After 15 days in these tanks the wine is bottled under pressure, and begins its journey straight to us! (And now, you!) Leave your thinking caps at home, this wine is pure pleasure, fundamentally fun, and wildly reckless like the free spirits who will imbibe it with great frequency. (Hands up, don’t be shy…) The Magnabosco family amazes yet again, now we just need to be back in Veneto with them to make it all complete!
