Why We Love It...
Say it with me now...LEE-MOOOOOOO! Fun to say, even more fun to drink! This Brut Rosé is a winner by any metric – and a shining example of why every bubble lover on the planet needs to pay closer attention to Limoux. Here, in the south of France, only about 40 miles north of the Spanish border, sparkling wine has been made for centuries. By all accounts, sparkling wines here predate bubbly in Champagne, and many wine experts believe that Limoux is the birthplace of sparkling wine – with recorded production and methods documented by the monks of Saint-Hilaire abbey dated as far back as 1531!
This remarkable Brut Rosé is made from 65% chardonnay, 20% chenin blanc, and 15% pinot noir – made in the very same style as Champagne – and aged in bottle on the lees for 15+ months. A dosage of 7 grams per liter means this has less than half the typical sugar content of a prosecco and is indeed every bit as dry and crisp as the vast majority of rosé Champagne.
This beautiful salmon-hued wine showcases a fantastic exuberance for its mousse, with a profile that is dry, zippy, and crisp. Flavors of tangerine, white cherry, raspberry, brioche bread, and Honeycrisp apples dance effortlessly across the tongue, with a silky texture and not a trace of harshness. Smooth and creamy throughout, but with a tart brightness that helps to make this disappear lightning fast…and I’ll say again…just stunning drinkability for the price.
Faire La Fête loosely translates to “live it up” and at this price, for this quality, that means you buy a case, or two, or ten – and thank me later. No such thing as too much of this good thing…a house staple that you’ll find in my fridge all year long.
