Petit Frère, a parcel-focused project created in 2024 by Baptiste Gazeau, takes its name from one of the most beautiful terroirs in the appellation, and this bottling comes from a vineyard just a few hundred meters from that historic abbey.

The Prat Albert parcel sits in the village of Pomas, where 35-year-old vines are planted in clay-limestone soils with a west-facing exposure. The blend is 70% Chardonnay and 30% Chenin Blanc, pruned in simple Guyot and farmed organically since 2022. After manual harvesting, the grapes see a direct, long, gentle pressing and cold settling, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages six months on fine lees in tank and 30 months in bottle on lath before disgorgement, with a dosage of just 3 grams per liter, solidly in Extra Brut territory.

It starts with a bright and aromatic mix of golden kiwi and blood orange, juicy and tangy with a hint of tropical pizzazz. Coriander seed adds a warm, peppery spice, while tea leaves bring a subtle savory edge. Then we have delicate chamomile flowers that lend a gentle floral softness, and ripe quince giving the finish a rounded depth. It’s crisp and refreshing, but with complex layers that will keep you happily on your toes. You’ll also impress your deepest sparkling wine-loving friends, who are guaranteed to be asking you, “What is this, and where can I get some?” as soon as they give it a try. Be sure to get plenty, for you and your friends alike!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0796/1211/7307/files/DomainePetitFrerePratAlbertExtraBrutCremantdeLimouxNV_BUB_1012896_BottleShot.jpg?v=1793399785
