Why We Love It...
Remy Massin traces its roots on the sunny hillsides of Ville sur Arce all the way back to 1865. Now, five generations of growing grapes later, this exceptional producer consistently crafts some of our favorite cuvees to be found in any corner of the sparkling wine world. Set in the heart of the Cote des Bar region, this is the southernmost edge of Champagne, closely matching the Kimmeridgian soils of nearby Chablis. Their vineyards are predominantly planted to pinot noir, with about 20% dedicated to chardonnay and 5% pinot blanc (remember their pinot blanc Special Club? So good!).
Anywho, this 100% pinot noir thrives in the slightly warmer temps found in the Aube region, producing a balanced and generous style that their portfolio is known for. Here, the ripeness of the fruit is perfectly balanced but never dominant, and the decision to bypass any finishing dosage helps to keep everything precise and taut. Aromas of cherry and plum blossoms, with the salty tang of an ocean breeze, welcomes you to the wine, with a luxuriously rich (for Brut Nature) mouthful that offers even more stone fruit, plus lime leaf, Korean pear, and mineral-laced tones of river rocks, chalk, and flint. Juicy on entry, the wine tightens considerably, spiraling to a concise finish that almost makes your lips pop! This is a delightfully fun and friendly nature that absolutely dazzles at this fine price!
