Today, seventh-generation vigneron Luc Chaudron carries on his family legacy of producing refined Champagnes from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier with loads of character and uniqueness to express the terroir. One of Luc’s ancestors, Hélène (whom one of the cuvées is named after), actually lived to 102 years old and claimed that Champagne was the secret to her vitality. We’re in no part here to give medical advice, but that’s one belief we can absolutely get behind!

This B73 Grains de Nature is built of 70% Chardonnay with 30% Pinot Noir. After an incredible 12 years aging on the lees (practically unheard of at Champagnes in this range), no sugar is added after disgorgement so that the wine expresses authentic fruit and terroir flavors of the Montagne de Reims. It has a crisp, mineral profile and lively acidity that allow the wine’s natural character to shine, and shine it does!

The nose opens with earthy, tender aromatics of mushroom, fresh ginger, and wet concrete. Where the aromas brim on more warming savory notes, the palate brings in vibrant spring sensations, with sweet lemon blossoms, crushed raspberries, and Golden Delicious apples, with a mouthwatering freshness and punchy acidity. The lengthy finish brings in a mineral, river rocky tension toward the end, while the texture remains lively, luxurious, and energetic. For under $50 and the only spot to have this in the whole country, this is an absolute delight that you must try!
